It’s just a sleepless night
with towers made of ivory,
A dreamless street
bound by destroyed dreams,
Somewhere there’s a key
to let us out from here.
It’s just a broken town
with dashed hopes and futures,
10-foot barbed wire fences
and the sounds of souls
once free, now prisoners.
Midnight strikes and deserted streets,
the hurricane of defeat.
Somewhere there’s a key
to unlock these gates.
Someday we’ll be free.

Meteoric swirl, bullseye
twirls hypnotically.
Cascading solar waves
ceaselessly pound and whip me,
through the cracks and crevices,
the wind holds steady.

It’s cold today,
and silence echoes through the streets.
Even raindrops are reserved
and respectful.
clear bells, mist, blue eyes.

She looked me in the eye,
sad smile, blue sky
clear with hopes of the past.
She was all that I asked.

Mystery inside -
you shake patiently, ears
pressed; inside is
all you can imagine.
Eager fingers rip away protection,
last shreds of disguise stripped and
the gift
is revealed.

A glass prison
is the worst of them all;
the doors unlocked,
yet the handle
is taboo to touch.

Your heart my home,
(swollen kisses and
snatched whispers)
with blackened rooms
and heaving curtains,
and no-one to watch;
safety in solitude.

Blitz, glare,
Tokyo nightlife
and Times square.
Eyes skim easily, riding
beams of messages.
But on the softest figures,
the dark dull tree,
we stop,
ponder.

Limerick, spider
stalks dark in thin, bending stalks
wave arms through the night.

She lay still on the couch, cushions with their
arms around her. Tears jumbled, through hair
light glints off. Sleep now,
till the dawn breaks your peace.
